Thank you all for coming today and supporting this important fundraising event.
I know many of you are as angry and frustrated as I am about the current political climate—the attacks on our democracy, blatant corruption, and the daily stream of lies coming from the top.
This is not the America we knew 10, 20, or 30 years ago. Since 2016, we have been living through a decade of turmoil. For those of us who remember China’s 十年文革, the Cultural Revolution, some of what we are witnessing today feels disturbingly familiar.
First, the rhetoric targeted the southern border and Muslims. Then came a rise in anti-Asian hate. Now, the attacks have expanded to the entire immigrant community, regardless of legal status.
For the past 11 years, I have participated in political campaigns across Georgia, including here in Johns Creek. I generally avoid negative campaigning because I believe we should focus on issues and qualifications.
However, we must also demand honesty and accountability. Questions about a candidate’s claimed Ph.D. in integrated Chinese and Western medicine (中西医结合) deserve verifiable answers, especially when the candidate’s medical background raises questions about that qualification.
This election is about choosing someone who truly represents our community and makes us proud. Dr. Michelle Au is like a daughter to me. She is a physician, a dedicated public servant, and an outstanding role model for the next generation of Asian Americans.
So, what can we do about the current political climate?
Turn our anger into action. Make a generous contribution, put up campaign signs, talk to your neighbors, and encourage others to vote.
Let us reelect Dr. Michelle Au to the Georgia State House and work toward sending her to the U.S. Congress.
Thank you for your support, your generosity, and your commitment to making a difference. Together, we can make our voices heard!
